Going the Extra Mile: Ms. Allison Landau

Going the Extra Mile: Ms. Allison Landau

Hoover Elementary School Personal Care Assistant Ms. Allison Landau was recognized with the Extra Mile Award at the January 22, 2021 School Board Meeting by Board President Jacob Wyland.

Ms. Landau was nominated by her colleagues Ms. Jill Calkins, Ms. Emmy Lou Nelson, Ms. Paula Hogenmiller, Ms.Kait Lear, Ms. Kelly Richards, and Mr. Mike Hansberry.

In their nomination letter they state:

“Allison is an exemplary employee, often arriving to work more than an hour early for her shift everyday.  She comes to school with a smile on her face and a desire to do whatever it takes to help her students and colleagues succeed.  Her remarkable positivity and sense of humor give a boost to all of us who have the pleasure of knowing her and working with her.

Allison is always willing to help and regularly puts others before herself.  She goes above and beyond to support all students and staff at Hoover, not just the children she works with directly.  She has an innate ability to recognize when children need help, and how to best deliver the needed assistance.  She makes connections with students and adjusts her interactions based upon students’ needs and abilities.

Allison’s sense of professional responsibility is also remarkable.  She can be counted on to carry out all components of any aspect of her work. Frequently this results in her bringing in ideas and/or materials to make improvements or adjustments as needed.  She often helps with tasks far beyond the scope of her job.

Everyone in the building knows that if they need something, they can not only count on Allison, but that she is happy to help in any way that she can.  With the many demands and challenges that 2020 has thrown our way, we have been extremely fortunate to have Allison on our team.

We are beyond lucky to have Allison as part of the Hoover staff and we appreciate her more than any words can adequately express.”

Mr. Wyland stated, "On behalf of the school board and my girls, I would like to congratulate and thank Ms. Landau for being the wonderful, dedicated person that she is. There is no higher compliment than being recognized by one’s peers."
